What does a tracking number look like and where can I find it?

Your tracking number is located on your receipt or directly on your package.

Tracking numbers are comprised of either:

• 16 numeric digits — 7035114477138472, 4002847016405018, or
• 13 numeric and alphabetic characters — RY982465507CN, LZ213465621CN, LM071894960CA

Note: Only the sender can provide the tracking number. Canada Post don’t keep records of tracking numbers by addressee name, address or contact information.

I cannot find the tracking number for a parcel I sent

Tracking numbers are typically 11 or 13 alphanumeric characters ending in CA, or 16 digits.

If you sent a parcel through PriorityTM, XpresspostTM, or Regular ParcelTM with delivery confirmation, the tracking number will be at the bottom of your tracking receipt.

If you sent your parcel to the U.S.A. or internationally, the tracking number will appear on your copy of the shipping label as well as on your receipt.

Note: The tracking number will not appear on your receipt if you used one of our prepaid products, but did not mail your parcel at the time of purchase.

If you cannot find your tracking number, we are unable to look it up for you. For privacy reasons Canada Post does not keep records of shipments by address or name. The tracking number is only available on the parcel itself and on your receipt.

For domestic items delivered within Canada (excluding prepaid envelopes and labels), the tracking number consists of 16 numbers. You can find the tracking number on your receipt or a copy of the shipping label.

Reference numbers are provided by shippers. Because reference numbers are chosen by the shipper, duplicates may exist. To avoid duplicates, enter a date range when searching for your reference number; only reference numbers active during the specified time period will be displayed.

Так вот берешь несколько серых ящиков (Как на фото) с почтой, и дуешь к своему сортировочному кейсу, на котором написаны улицы, номера домов, номера квартир, номера офисов. Тут начинается день – рассовываешь письма по адресам – для ул. Пушкина, дом 460 есть специальный слот, куда всю корреспонденцию для этого адреса и запихиваешь. На это уходит в среднем пару часов, однако есть маршруты, на которых только на сортировку я лично тратил 5 часов. Это полная жопа, друзья мои.

С посылками так же, что и с заказными письмами, только они побольше по размеру.

На закуску – реклама. Её нужно тоже отсортировать, потому что может быть несколько комплектов рекламных листовок, к примеру пять комплектов. И каждый почтовый ящик должен получить именно пять разных листовок.

Когда сортировка всей этой байды закончена, все перевязывается резинками, загружается в эти же серые ящики, и грузятся в машину.

Сейчас вся почта переходит на Ford transit, специально адаптированный для почтальонов. Нет пассажирского сидения, есть камера заднего вида, большой и удобный багажник.

Каждому почтальону выдается автомобиль. Так что расписался в книге за ключи, километраж – и вперед!

В среднем за день нужно объехать около 500 так называемых points of calls. Один point of call – это один почтовый ящик, куда ты суешь корреспонденцию, или один офис. Выглядит многовато, однако справится можно, и даже быстрее чем планировалось.

По плану на станцию ты должен вернутся к 15:00, то есть 8 часов рабочий день. На хорошем маршруте запросто можно закончить к 12:00, что у меня сейчас и происходит. Оплата все равно как за полный 8 часовой день. Если ты перерабатываешь по уважительной причине, то все оплачивается, за первые 2 часа переработки по коэффициенту 1.5, все последующие – по двойному тарифу. Теперь про зарплату: (Эта информация публичная, так что Америку я не открою, но тем не менее) 20 долларов в час + надбавка на обувь и перчатки + 4% надбавка за что-то еще, сейчас не помню. Также оплачиваются все рекламные листовки – в зависимости от размера от 1 до 5 центов за одну листовку. В месяц на одних листовках можно заработать долларов 300. Итоговая же сумма в ведомости за месяц – около 3000-3500 долларов минус налоги. Чистыми на руки – около 2500 долларов.

Почта в Канаде очень развита, по почте пересылают все что хочешь – украшения, драгоценности, паспорта, кредитные карточки, подарочные карточки из магазинов.

Воруют ли почтальоны все это? А то! Есть нечистые на руку люди, и я слышал истории про таких, однако сам лично не сталкивался. На почте есть очень серьезный отдел по безопастности, в права которого входит почти все то же, что и у полицейских, вплоть до задержания и ареста. Мне рассказывали про чувака, который воровал подарочные карточки из конвертов (их можно прощупать). На него служба безопасности выходила несколько лет, в итоге поймали его на крашеную карточку, краску можно было увидеть только под ультрафиолетом – и арест, штраф, тюрьма и фигушки, а не пенсия. Говорят, что он плакал (мужик лет 50), и все приговаривал “А что же я дома скажу”. Такие вот страшные истории.

А иногда тебе мешают проехать вот такие животные. За разорение гнезда такого гуся в Канаде предусмотрен штраф в размере 5000 долларов, кстати. Так что спокойно стоим и курим бамбук, пока вся эта братия перейдет дорогу. Это промышленный район, так же куча всяких мелких бизнесов типа ара-гаражей, и так далее.

What is Safe Drop?

Safe Drop is a service offered by Canada Post which allows you to request deliveries of your packages or shipments, at any location. It can be used for residential and commercial delivery addresses. You don’t need to be present to receive the package at an approved Safe Drop location such as: 

• A neighbor’s house;
• Your business lobby;
• An office building’s concierge desk;
• Any other indoor reliable outdoor location with security.

There are also limitations on what you may request to be delivered through this service. These include:

• Any package or shipment with a value over $3000;
• Gasoline, hazardous items such as fireworks, firearms, or ammunition;
• Packages where delivery exceeds 300 miles outside your current location;
• Shipments containing alcohol exceeding 24% alcohol content and/or perishable food products (which will not remain refrigerated);
• A limit on the weight of items that can be dropped off at these locations, which is currently set to 60 pounds;
• Packages requiring special handlings such as live animals, human remains, plants including flowers, soil conditioners, and fertilizers used in agriculture.

Служба принимает к отправке самые различные по массе и размерам письма и посылки, организует срочную доставку наземным, воздушным и морским видами транспорта. Как и везде, в Канаде получить посылку можно в отделении.

Перечень предлагаемых услуг самый широкий, но несколько смущает их стоимость. К примеру, чтобы отправить письмо в Канаду из России российской почтой, придется заплатить в 2-3 раза меньше, при этом сроки доставки сопоставимы. Сервис отслеживания работает безукоризненно, но у других крупных почтовых служб он ничем не хуже, поскольку система задействуется общая.

В целом это хорошая почта, а, учитывая большое число отделений, в Канаде считается безальтернативной, если речь идет об обычных письмах и посылках.
